In the 1930’s and 1940’s, Shanghai took in over 30,000 Jewish refugees fleeing persecution from Europe. Though virtually all of the refugees left during the 1950’s, many of them and their descendants have not forgotten that China was one of the few countries that remained open to Jews during World War II. With the desire to give back to the Shanghai community, a scholarship will be created to provide Chinese students’ all tuition for four years of undergraduate study and for two years of graduate study in United States of America.
Funding for the scholarships will be provided by the descendants of Shanghai Jewish Refugees and will be open to Chinese students who wish to study aboard in the United States.
The name of the scholarship will be: Shanghai Jewish Refugees Memories Scholarship (SHJRMS) .
The Scholarship Program is operated by Shanghai Jewish Refugees Memories Foundation.
There are also some Chinese entrepreneurs will join the Board , they will thanks the Shanghai Jewish Refugees have trained some Chinese artists to be the Firs-Generation Chinese pianist and violinist.
Therefore, the Scholarship will be provided to Jewish students in America who want to study in China.
